This book sets out the order of the services of the Celestial Church of Christ for Service Conductors, Shepherds and every member who wants to follow the worship step by step. We follow the mode of worship laid down by the Pastor Founder, Prophet Samuel Bilewu Joseph Oshoffa.

Service times are the same LOCAL time in every country (Mercy Day at 6 PM is 6 PM where you are).

Part 1: Standard texts and rules of worship

The CCC Prayer Pattern

Every prayer in the Celestial Church of Christ follows this order:

  1. Open with the CCC Prayer Key, the three Holy Names: “Jehovah! Jesus Christ! Holy Michael!”
  2. Pray.
  3. Close with “In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.”
  4. Praise God with seven Halleluyahs: Halleluyah! Halleluyah! Halleluyah! Halleluyah! Halleluyah! Halleluyah! Halleluyah!

When the bell rings

As soon as the Service Conductor rings the bell for worship, every member bows the head wherever they are and says three times: “Holy! Holy! Holy! Lord God of Hosts.” (Isaiah 6:3; Revelation 4:8)

When it is time to pray, close your eyes and kneel or stand. Never sit during prayer.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give me this day my daily bread, and forgive me my trespasses, as I forgive those who trespass against me. And lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from evil: for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Gloria

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

The Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the Celestial Church of Christ; the Communion of Saints; the forgiveness of sins; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Hymn of adoration (call and response)

Used at the New Moon, Holy Communion and End of Year services. Each line is sung three times; R = the congregation’s response.

  • God Almighty, King of life
  • Holy, King of the angels
  • Bow down to the King of all people. R: I bow down to Him.
  • Hi rah jah man jari bam: Holy Spirit, heavenly Dove, descend now
  • Yah Go Lolah Mari Yah Nga Rih Yeh. R: Yah Go Lolah Mari Yeh.
  • Pay homage to the King, our Lord. R: We pay homage to Him. Amen.

The holy words

The holy words of the Church are said exactly as given and are never translated: Eyiba, Jehovah Ramah, Agashadual, Eliya, Jehovah Lass, Eli Bamah / Eli Yabah, Jerih Moh Yamah, Yarah Rah Sarah, Yah Raman, Jehovah Chekohiram, Elohim Jah, El Beraca, Eli Yah, Alfaji Ara-Hach, Belele a o na Bonono. When the Service Conductor calls a holy word three times, the congregation answers “Holy” each time.

Rules of the house of God

  • The church is the house of God: a place of holiness, honour, prayer, thanksgiving and glory. Never treat it as a market place or a club house.
  • Worship Jehovah alone, through our Lord Jesus Christ, in love, holiness, truth and faith; love God with all your heart and your neighbour as yourself.
  • Read the Word and be a doer of the Word. Live as children of light and the salt of the earth.
  • Visiting herbalists, secret cults, fornication, adultery and every immoral act are forbidden.
  • The Service Conductor, the Incense Bearer and all who officiate keep themselves holy, away from every impurity, for three days before the Lord’s Day or any service they lead (Exodus 19:10-15).

Naming of a Child (Christening)

On the eighth day after birth, as the tenet of the Church requires.
Materials: seven kinds of fruit, salt, sugar cubes, a jar of pure honey, two packets of candles, and incense. Seven candles stand in a white bowl: three are lit before entering the church, and four during “Yarah Sarah”; clean water is then poured into the bowl.
The mother does not sit inside the church on this day; she sits near the house of worship and does not touch the holy items. A prophet carries a boy and a prophetess carries a girl (otherwise a member of the child’s sex, with a prophet or prophetess beside them). The Shepherd sanctifies the carrier and child with holy water and signs the cross three times on the carrier’s palms. If the baby cannot be brought on the eighth day, a candle wrapped in white cloth marked with seven crosses stands for the child.
  1. 1
At the entrance the Shepherd calls on the Holy Names, “Jehovah, Jesus Christ, Holy Michael”, reads Psalm 24 or Psalm 150, prays that the child be presented to God, and sprinkles the child with holy water three times.
  2. 2
Procession: the Incense Bearer, the carrier with the baby, the bowl carrier, seven elders, the choir, the children, the elders, and visitors. Those who carried the baby in dance round the fruit and the carrier’s seat seven times. Processional hymn of thanksgiving.

The Shepherd sprinkles her with holy water without touching her and signs the cross over her palms three times, then hands the baby to her. The seven elders pray for protection, peace, long life, victory, blessing and God’s light on the child and family; then the closing prayer and grace, and seven Halleluyahs to the four corners of the world.
